Thank you, Jacqui for these lovely reminders today. I taught Psychology in a Flint, Michigan high school for 33 years. I showed a slightly edited version of " The Color Purple" to each class and I never forgot Shug's words about wondering if God ever got pissed off about our lack of awareness in His marvelous universe. This Thanksgiving I feel GRATEFUL and Thankful for my Middle Church Family!...Thank you Jacqui! Thank you, Amanda, Thank you Natalie.....Fortunately I have the memory up and running of that moment you three stood there in front Middle after the fire and completed Natalie's Ordination. That memory helps to encourage me that LOVE ENDURES...Fierce Love cannot be broken by tragedy or great disappointment. Middle has led the way out. Someone I admire and have gotten to know online, Aiyana sent me a short vid which carried the profound message: JOY is an act of resistance! Like many this past election has brought us great disappointment and discouraged us...I am one of those....Middle Family offers me the opportunity to experience JOY!!!!! I want to say JOY, Love Period and FIERCE Love are all Acts of Resistance. My goal is to walk that talk like you do, Jacqui....like Amanda does, Like Natalie does....AMEN!
