One might posit that he was “saved” from his assassination attempts because they were staged, and unfortunately one person was killed. No there is no proof but it is like something he would do.

I've heard that speculation over and over again Norma Lee. The man who was killed was collateral damage in the scenario. I would not put it past Mr. Trump. That he did not die from the shooting was as random as if he had, in my point of view. God did not cause the shooting, God would not have been the cause of the shooting if it were fatal and God did not "spare" him. Were God in the "spare from gun death" business we would not have Sandy Hook and Pulse and...on and on. So I believe in God for sure AND I think we need better theologies about when bad things happen to good people, and when bad things happen to bad people.

Hmm, when bad things happen to bad people? God don't like ugly!

Jacqui, thank you SO much for this! I was in an absolute rage all day yesterday over Trump's pinning the air tragedy to DEI hiring policies. More blatant, in-your-face racism. I was at my wit's end, feeling so helpless to do anything and seeing no place to find comfort. It helps me SO much to know I'm not alone!

Thank you Randy for reading, replying and sharing. Did you hear his press secretary? She doubled down. (W)hen people are praying they are praying about the color of the pilot. It was shocking, the mixture of blatant white supremacist ideology and prayer.

Awesome photo and post.

Also, I would love to know the poll results of evangelicals by age. A size-able chunk of younger (under 30? 40?) evangelicals have been organized and are more progressive, less homophobic and fortunately voted for Trump in smaller percentages. In my experience, younger evangelicals can sometimes be organized.; 10% of young evangelicals are queer and they and some of their evangelical friends are ripe for education/organizing. I’ve also found some evangelical adults are homophobic because they desperately want grandchildren & think their queer children can’t/won’t have kids. When you can tell them, “hey, I’m gay, born again and have a fantastic queer daughter, daughter-in-law and grandchild,” they sometimes really light up & want to talk about it. Praise God!

I'm on the board of PRRI and am very impressed with what Robert P. Jones and his tea do in terms of polling data. Public Religion Research is where you can find you can find that work. Thanks for sharing this!

Wow, what a great resource PRRI is, thank you. Particularly relevant to this discussion is a recent research (02-04-2026) project "Christian Nationalism Across All 50 States: Insights from PRRI’s 2024 American Values Atlas."

I am encouraged and feel my spirit is being nourished by your post However I am very sad and disappointed by other Christian leaders specifically the leadership of the Episcopal Church I have very low expectations from the catholic leaders especially how they view women

Thank you Cindy. More and more leaders of the church need to step up like the Bishop in DC. I have colleagues who are leading the way with love for sure. Keep reading, friend, and I'll also try to repost some of what I see that nourishes me.

My goodness, this post is what I needed to hear. That final paragraph is really beautiful. Thank you for writing this and for keeping the truth of the abundant amount of goodness of people’s hearts that can be found all over the world— to our left and to our right. ♥️

Only a cruel despot acts this way. Trump prides himself on how much pain he inflicts on others. He is evil incarnate.

It's so true. I am so disappointed and hurt that so many people I know are good at heart voted for this vile person.

Good morning!

Thanks for your words of wisdom, compassion and support at a moment when our world seems so far away from what it means to be a real person of faith. Persons like you are “messengers” of peace to guide us on how to live a life full of light in spite of the darkness around us.

Namaste. 🙏
