Cory Booker has been on the rise the past four years. A few days ago he stepped up and showed us a path too e forward. This man has changed from a good public speaker to an orator. Dare I say, of presidential caliber orator.

This is our national story:

Some of us refuse to let go of our simple lifestyles, others are screaming a train wreck ahead.

Late 1920s, most hadn’t a clue what was coming, market crash, dust bowl and WW2, just having a roaring good time like most of our TV programs today.

Plenty of clues now but panic makes it worse. Don’t look for common solutions in uncommon times. Times that bring out the best in us require ideas that look strange at first…

Ideas that look strange at first.... I like that.

If I said, “Good morning, Rev. Lewis. How is your el-elohe-name?”, it would definitely sound strange. But not so if you knew I meant, “How’s Name (God or Life) treating you and how are you treating Name?” For we share our el-elohe-name with Name.

We need a new story, but not until the current regime is toppled; only then we can rebuild to create that new story. I applaud Cory Booker & stand with him. My current fear is that the nation is so divided & the right is so blinded to the truth, that necessary change won't be possible.

I think we must begin the story of resistance now. Yes there is resistance to the truth, so we have to be loud.

Václav Havel mentions the idea of a parallel society, where it serves two main purposes: it offers pockets of freedom to those rejected by the totalitarian system, or who refuse to participate in it, and it forms the foundation for a new society that can grow out of the ashes of the destruction wrought by the totalitarians.

In other words, we don't have to wait until the regime is toppled; we do the work now to tell new stories and new narratives.

Agree. Our new story, our new vision can help topple the regime. Our new story includes telling the truth about this current reality, which means confrontation. It means non-violent resistance. It means building a story of "US" inside the story of the White supremacist ideologies. My friend Brian Blount calls what we need "pockets of resistance."

So wonderfully spoken in a portal of truth, honesty and integrity. Let’s create a new story of unity, understanding and love. This is possible if we are, most of all, Willing to accept and embrace our differences and our role in this new story that we have created.

There is so much good that we could have. Peace and prosperity and light and laughter. Hope and community. Instead, we let selfishness, hate, and fear drive us to extinction.

I’m tired. You’re right that only by partnering with God can we withstand. Only by that strength can we press on. I will not settle for handing my children over to oppression and destruction.
