Hey Middle Family,
I'm currently on a retreat, deep in thought about the work ahead. It is two parts planning, two parts joy, and two parts grief.
The world's hurting, and we're called to love the HELL out of it – boldly facing the pain and offering healing while taking care of ourselves. It's all about channeling that fierce, Jesus-style love.
Our hearts break seeing how we treat each other, from Ohio's transgender healthcare ban to the heartbreaking violence in Gaza and the ongoing police brutality we endure here in America. Seriously, what's up with all of this?
So, what's the move? We keep on keeping on and continue to 'become who we already are' as I said three weeks ago. Let's dive into the LOVE space. You're probably, like, well, how do I do that Jacqui? We just do the thang!
We can demonstrate our commitment by coming together on Sundays, whether in-person or virtually, to worship as a community. Let's actively participate in activities that resonate with our passions, like advocating for justice, staying updated on voter reform, or enjoying some ukulele strumming – the options are limitless!
Right now, Rev. Natalie Renee is leading the way for us to show up in love – so make a note on your calendars for next week's love fix. We're hosting a movie night featuring "Origin" on Monday, Jan 29th, at 7 pm, at the Alamo Drafthouse Lower Manhattan (28 Liberty Street, NYC, 10005). Then we will have a talkback on Feb 11th to discuss the movie!
Remember friends, love always, in ALL WAYS.
Jacqui
I just shared this quote on facebook: "The world's hurting, and we're called to love the HELL out of it – boldly facing the pain and offering healing while taking care of ourselves. It's all about channeling that fierce, Jesus-style love." I am so grateful you embody this, as in the video I saw yesterday and knowing you, as honestly it would be so easy to lose sight of love. I just laughed to myself thinking, Jacqui is right up there with Taylor Swift as an icon of positive, loving energy... ha! But yes. Thank you.
